Institutional grounds are being established to allow residents of the Chungcheong region to use arboretums and local gardens operated by Chungnam Province free of charge, as part of efforts to revitalize tourism in Chungnam.
The Chungnam Provincial Council announced that it has issued a legislative notice for the partial amendment to the "Ordinance on the Operation and Management of Arboretums and Local Gardens in Chungcheongnam-do," which was proposed by Jeong Kwangseop (Taean 2, People Power Party) as the main sponsor.
The main content of the ordinance is to provide the legal basis for allowing residents of Chungnam, Chungbuk, Daejeon, and Sejong to enter arboretums and local gardens operated by Chungnam Province free of charge, as a follow-up measure to the "Mutual Reduction of Usage Fees for Tourism Facilities in the Four Chungcheong Region Cities and Provinces" agreement signed in October 2024.
Regardless of the ordinance amendment, Chungnam residents already receive free admission. However, under the principle of reciprocity, this measure was taken so that Chungnam residents can also receive admission fee reductions and other benefits when using tourism facilities in Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungbuk.
In addition, natural recreation forests operated by Chungnam Province are also expected to be included in the benefits through this partial amendment to the ordinance.
Provincial council member Jeong Kwangseop stated, "With this ordinance amendment, residents of the four cities and provinces will have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of nature without burden when visiting arboretums operated by Chungnam Province and local gardens currently being developed in Taean."
