The Korean Red Cross (President Kim Cheolsoo) announced on May 30 that LG Uplus (CEO Hong Beomsik) had donated 5 million won from its employee fund, "Love of One Thousand Won," to support children in South Korea suffering from rare and incurable diseases.

The donation will be used to cover medical expenses and living costs for Jiho, a 13-year-old boy who has been battling anencephaly and epilepsy for seven years. Jiho showed improvement during rehabilitation treatment, but his health deteriorated again after treatment was discontinued. Jiho's family expressed their difficulties, saying, "We are no longer able to continue his treatment."

Lee Taesu, who attended the donation ceremony as a representative of LG Uplus employees, said, "We hope this fund will bring a small ray of hope to Jiho and his family," and added, "We wish for Jiho's speedy recovery."

"Love of One Thousand Won" is a fund created by LG Uplus employees, who each voluntarily donate 1,000 won from their monthly salary to help families in crisis. Whether to donate is determined through an employee survey, and support is provided through organizations that recommend individual cases.
