Applications Accepted Until June 30
Gijang County in Busan is holding an open recruitment for "supporters" and "torch relay runners" to ensure the successful hosting of the "106th National Sports Festival" and the "45th National Para Games."
The National Sports Festival will take place from October 17 to October 23, and the Para Games will be held from October 31 to November 5. This year's event marks the first time in 25 years that the National Sports Festival will be held in Busan.
Gijang County stated, "We are proceeding with this recruitment in order to generate broad public interest and foster a spirit of voluntary participation."
The number of supporters to be recruited is 600 in total, and any Gijang County resident aged 18 or older is eligible to apply. Applications can be submitted in person at the administrative welfare center for the applicant's address or at the Gijang County Sports Council. The application period runs until June 30.
Selected supporters will participate in cheering and promoting the event at major activities, including individual sports competitions and the opening and closing ceremonies.
In addition, torch relay runners are also being openly recruited. Gijang County plans to select about 70 runners, of which 16 general runners will be chosen through open recruitment from June 16 to June 30. Applicants must be county residents aged 15 or older.
Applications for torch relay runners can be submitted in person at the Sports Promotion Division of Gijang County Office or via email. The torch relay runners will be composed of a diverse group, including contributors to society, people with disabilities, athletes, and unique individuals.
County Governor Jeong Jongbok said, "I hope this sports festival will become a celebration of passion and unity created together by the residents, going beyond just sports," and added, "We ask for your great interest and participation to ensure a successful event."
