To Be Built by HD Hyundai Samho and Delivered by 2028
HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the intermediate holding company for shipbuilding under HD Hyundai, has secured an order to build two container ships from an Oceania-based shipping company.
On May 30, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering announced through a regulatory filing that its subsidiary, HD Hyundai Samho, recently signed a contract with a shipping company based in Oceania to build two container ships. The contract amount is equivalent to 5.5% of HD Hyundai Samho's revenue of 7.0031 trillion won in the previous year. HD Hyundai Samho plans to deliver the vessels sequentially by the first half of 2028.
Including this latest order, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has secured a total of $6.98 billion (approximately 9.6289 trillion won) in orders this year, achieving 38.7% of its annual order target of $18.05 billion.
By vessel type, the company has won orders for one liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, six LNG bunkering vessels, six liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers, two ethane carriers, 36 container ships, and six tankers.
