This forum, held in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Invention Day this year, was organized with the aim of strengthening intellectual property competitiveness and establishing a collaborative network by sharing the latest trends and practical strategies for intellectual property with local companies and university (and graduate) students.

The event was attended by Park Sanghoo, Vice President for External and Strategic Affairs at Pusan National University, Kim Sihyung, Executive Vice President of the Korea Invention Promotion Association, as well as more than 100 local businesspeople, faculty, and students, who engaged in discussions about the value and future direction of intellectual property.

During the forum, keynote speeches and presentations were delivered by Kim Sangkyun, professor at Kyung Hee University, and Choi Yoonchan, director of the Busan Carbon Neutrality Support Center, among others. They introduced support systems for intellectual property commercialization, policies and programs for small and medium-sized enterprises and researchers, and shared practical strategies and case studies to strengthen companies' IP capabilities.

Park Geuntae, professor at the School of Convergence Studies at Pusan National University (head of the project group), stated, "This forum will not only provide information that is practically helpful for local companies, but will also develop into a platform for intellectual property cooperation between universities and businesses."

The Pusan National University Intellectual Property Professional Training Project Group signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korean Intellectual Property Office in 2024 and is actively supporting the enhancement of local companies' intellectual property capabilities by operating an interdisciplinary intellectual property major, providing IP education linked to key industries in Busan such as silver care technology, and establishing industry-academia cooperation systems.
