Gwangju Early Voter Turnout at 34.33% as of 8 a.m., Significantly Exceeds National Average

Ranked Third Nationwide After Jeonnam and Jeonbuk
Nam-gu Records Highest District Turnout at 36.9%

As of 8 a.m. on May 30, the second day of early voting for the 21st presidential election, the early voter turnout in Gwangju stood at 34.33%.

According to the election statistics system of the National Election Commission, from the previous day until 8 a.m. on this day, 400,119 out of 1,194,471 eligible voters in Gwangju visited early voting stations. This figure is 8.3 percentage points higher than the turnout at the same time during the 20th presidential election in 2022, which was 26.03%.


Gwangju recorded the third highest voter turnout among the 17 cities and provinces nationwide, following Jeonnam (37.56%) and Jeonbuk (35.13%). The national average was 21.19%.


By district within Gwangju, Nam-gu had the highest turnout at 36.90%, followed by Dong-gu at 36.81%, Buk-gu at 35.51%, Seo-gu at 34.35%, and Gwangsan-gu at 30.89%.


A total of 96 early voting stations are operating in Gwangju, and voting is possible from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The locations of the voting stations can be checked on the National Election Commission website or major portal sites. When participating in early voting, voters are required to bring a photo ID issued by a government office or public institution, such as a resident registration card, driver's license, or passport.
