As of 1:00 p.m. on May 29, the first day of early voting for the 21st presidential election, Sinan-gun recorded the highest voter turnout in Jeollanam-do.
According to the National Election Commission's election statistics system, the early voting rate in the 22 cities and counties of Jeollanam-do at this time was 20.23%. Among them, Sinan-gun saw 10,348 out of 35,832 eligible voters participate, resulting in a turnout rate of 28.88%, the highest in the province.
Jangheung-gun followed with a turnout rate of 27.45% (8,552 out of 31,153 eligible voters), and Wando-gun recorded 25.15% (10,191 out of 40,521 eligible voters).
Gwangyang-si had the lowest turnout rate at 15.92%, with 20,875 out of 131,128 eligible voters casting ballots.
The early voting rates are provided hourly through the election statistics system, based on the registered addresses of voters.
Meanwhile, as of the same time, the nationwide voter turnout was 10.51%. The turnout rate in Gwangju was 17.66%, ranking third after Jeollanam-do (20.23%) and Jeollabuk-do (18.55%).
