Goryeong County Community Social Security Council Fulfills Children's Dreams Through "Wish Mailbox"

The Goryeong County Community Social Security Council (co-chaired by Lee Namcheol and Kim Jongtae) carried out a heartwarming act of sharing by fulfilling the wishes of local children through its special "Wish Mailbox" project in celebration of Family Month.

For this project, a total of eight children were ultimately selected based on a comprehensive review of household income and the purpose of the program, from among the stories submitted by children between April and May. All requested items are scheduled to be delivered to the selected children by the end of May.

The "Wish Mailbox" is an inspiring welfare program in which children who have difficulty obtaining desired items due to economic hardship can submit their wishes in handwritten letters. After a screening process, gifts are delivered directly to the selected children. This project, which serves as a kind of "Santa Claus," has become a leading example of warm, community-based welfare that turns children's dreams into reality.

This initiative was carried out with support from the "Together for Happiness Fund" of the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea. The "Together for Happiness Fund" is a joint fundraising project operated with donations voluntarily collected by local residents in their daily lives, making it even more meaningful as residents' acts of sharing are directly translated into real welfare practices.

One child whose wish was granted said, "I'm so happy that I could have the toy I envied my friends for having. Thank you so much for sincerely reading my letter."

Co-chair Kim Jongtae stated, "The earnest wishes of children, which began with a small handwritten letter, have been fulfilled thanks to the interest and participation of the local community. We ask for your continued interest and involvement so that even more children can dream and receive support in the future."

The Goryeong County Community Social Security Council plans to continue its efforts to eliminate welfare blind spots and create a happier community for all through customized integrated care programs, including the "Wish Mailbox."

Applications can be submitted through the Wish Mailboxes installed at the County Office's Department of Resident Welfare and at each town and township office. Various methods such as submission boxes, mail, and fax are available for applying.
