Former Asan Mayor Kyunggui Park Says "Punggi Station Real Estate Speculation Allegations Are Not False"

Press Conference Held: "Invalidation of Election Due to Studio Apartment Case"
Requests Public Disclosure of Audit Materials Related to Punggi Station

Former Asan Mayor Kyunggui Park Says "Punggi Station Real Estate Speculation Allegations Are Not False" Former Asan Mayor Kyunggui Park raised suspicions about Mayor Sehyun Oh on the 28th at the Chungnam Future Strategy Institute in Oncheon-dong.

Former Asan Mayor Kyunggui Park, who was sentenced to invalidation of his election on October 8 last year for allegedly spreading false information about the sale of real estate by Mayor Sehyun Oh during the last local elections, stated, "The speculation allegations regarding Punggi Station real estate are not false."

On the 28th, at a press conference held at the Chungnam Future Strategy Institute in Oncheon-dong, Park said, "The sentence that invalidated my election was due to allegations about the false sale of a studio apartment in Oncheon-dong, which has nothing to do with the Punggi Station district."

He further explained, "In fact, the police investigation result notification explicitly stated, 'As the mayor at the time, in order to avoid misunderstandings among ordinary citizens, the land in his wife's name should have been excluded from the development zone for the sake of fair municipal administration.'"

He also argued, "During the election, Mayor Oh cleverly cited and manipulated court rulings, investigation documents, and audit materials to make it appear as if public institutions had confirmed that there were 'no suspicions' against him, in order to erase the speculation allegations attached to him."

Regarding the city government's police report the previous day against a policy advisor who served during Park's term, on charges such as leaking official secrets, Park said, "It seems he felt threatened by the advisor. This is a strategy to prevent further pursuit of his own corruption."

When asked whether he would disclose evidence such as court rulings and investigation result notifications, Park replied, "I will consider it."

Park demanded that Mayor Oh, the city, and the city council: ▲ publicly disclose audit materials related to Punggi Station to citizens; ▲ exclude land owned by the mayor's wife from the development zone and restore it to natural green space; and ▲ establish a special self-investigation committee within the city council for urban development in the Punggi Station district.

Park also announced, "We will launch a citizen anti-corruption monitoring group to oversee Mayor Oh's abuse of power, in order to provide checks and prevent a recurrence of corruption in city administration."

Meanwhile, since 2020, the city has been pursuing an urban development project in Punggi-dong, covering 680,000 square meters with a total project cost of 194.5 billion won, using the land readjustment method. The project aims to build 4,040 households to accommodate 8,892 people by 2029.
