On the same day, at an event for separated families hosted by the Ministry of Unification at the Koreana Hotel, Acting President Lee said, "Recently, North Korea has defined inter-Korean relations as those of two hostile states and is trying to erase the ideas of reunification and our nation," and made these remarks.

Acting President Lee emphasized, "This year marks the 80th anniversary of Liberation, which is also the history of division and the pain of separated families," and added, "As separated families are aging, it is necessary for the next generations of separated families to understand and overcome the pain of division and separation."
