Preparations for the Successful Hosting of the 2025 Pohang International Fireworks Festival Underway
International Fireworks Show, Grand Finale, and Drone Light Show to Dazzle Audiences on the 21st
Pohang's representative festival, the Pohang International Fireworks Festival, which has been designated as a cultural tourism festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is once again preparing to light up the night sky in spectacular fashion this year.
On May 28, Pohang City held a briefing session in the main conference room at City Hall to review preparations for the successful hosting of the 2025 Pohang International Fireworks Festival.
More than 30 people attended the session, including representatives from the Pohang Cultural Foundation, Pohang Nambu Fire Station, Pohang Nambu Police Station, Pohang Maritime Police Station, as well as heads of relevant city departments. They reviewed the progress of event preparations and discussed matters requiring cooperation.
The briefing began with a report from the Pohang Cultural Foundation on festival operations, followed by updates on preparations from more than 20 departments, discussions on collaboration with the event agency, and wide-ranging talks covering safety, transportation, and the status of related events.
With a large number of tourists expected to visit Pohang during the festival, the city thoroughly reviewed festival programs, transportation, safety, convenience facilities, and concurrent events to ensure that both residents and visitors can enjoy the festival comfortably and safely, while also gathering diverse opinions from attendees.
In particular, the city plans to focus its administrative resources to ensure that related events such as the Northeast Asia CEO Forum, the Northeast Asia Business Trade Meeting, and the Barefoot Walking Festival proceed smoothly without any setbacks.
Deputy Mayor Jang Sangkil urged, "For the successful hosting of Pohang's signature festival, the International Fireworks Festival, I ask that all relevant agencies and departments do their utmost in their respective roles," and added, "Please conduct thorough checks so that both domestic and international visitors can enjoy the festival safely."
Pre-festival programs themed around 'light' will be held from June 14 at locations including the Pohang Canal Lightway (from Pohang Canal Center to Flower Tree Square), the Songdo Beach Light Theme Zone, and various fringe performances.
The main event will take place from June 20 to June 22 at the Hyeongsan River Sports Park and surrounding areas.
On June 20, a daily fireworks show will be held. On June 21, an international fireworks show featuring Canada and Italy, as well as Korea’s grand finale, will be showcased. Spectacular fireworks will be combined with a light show featuring 1,000 drones, illuminating the summer night in dazzling fashion.
