Busan to Host Asia's Largest World Smart City Expo at BEXCO
The largest smart city exhibition in Korea, the 2025 World Smart City Expo (WSCE), will be held in Busan this July. The event is co-hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Busan Metropolitan Government plans to introduce its smart city strategies and major projects.
On May 28, the Busan Metropolitan Government announced that the WSCE will take place over three days from July 15 to 17 at BEXCO. This event is recognized as the leading smart city exhibition in the Asia-Pacific region. Governments, cities, companies, and experts from both Korea and abroad will participate to share technologies and policies aimed at solving urban issues and improving quality of life.
This year’s slogan is "Next City For All," highlighting the future direction of cities through smart city technologies and services. Major corporations such as Korean Air and KT, along with key local governments including Incheon, Ulsan, and Sejong, will participate with their own booths.
Korean Air will showcase its Urban Air Mobility (UAM) integrated flight management system, "ACROSS," and autonomous drone swarm flight technology. KT will present its precise positioning technology, "EL SAR," as well as smart safety solutions such as AI-based video analysis.
The Busan Metropolitan Government, in collaboration with Korea Water Resources Corporation, will operate a themed pavilion introducing the Eco Delta Smart City National Pilot City and will also promote major projects such as the "Smart City Lab."
The city aims to use this exhibition to enhance citizens' experience of smart city initiatives and to expand business opportunities in related industries.
Park Hyungjoon, Mayor of Busan, stated, "I hope this expo will serve as an opportunity to promote Busan’s smart city strategies both domestically and internationally, and to contribute to the expansion of the industry ecosystem. We will continue to devote our efforts to realizing a citizen-centered smart city."
