Yangcheon-gu in Seoul will operate 19 water facilities across the city from this month through September to help residents cool off during the peak summer season.

Yangcheon-gu Opens 19 Urban Water Facilities, Including Water Playgrounds, to Beat the Summer Heat Children and families enjoying the ground fountain at Paris Park in Yangcheon-gu. Provided by Yangcheon-gu.

The facilities include ground fountains and standard fountains (nine locations including Paris Park), streams and ponds (four locations including Yangcheon Park), a waterfall (Haenuri Waterfall), and water playgrounds (five locations including Anyangcheon Family Garden). Of these, nine sites?such as the ground and music fountains at Paris Park and the Hakmaeul Fountain Plaza?have already begun early operation, with the remaining facilities set to open sequentially.

In particular, the Anyangcheon Family Garden Water Playground, which features five water play installations such as a water tunnel and water buckets across a 1,000-square-meter area, will open on June 20, ten days earlier than in previous years. Four other water playgrounds, including Hanul Children’s Park and Bangok Children’s Park, will fully open in July and are expected to become popular summer destinations for children and families.

The water facilities will operate two to six times daily during daylight hours, with each session lasting 20 to 50 minutes. Operation schedules will be flexibly adjusted based on weather conditions, the number of users, and electricity supply circumstances. Facilities will not operate on Mondays, which are reserved for maintenance, or during rainy weather.

The district will conduct thorough facility inspections and water quality management to ensure a safe and clean environment for water play. In addition, professional safety personnel will be stationed at the five water playgrounds and at Paris Park to prevent accidents.

Lee Gijae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, stated, “As we head into the peak summer season, we are operating these water facilities so that residents can briefly escape the heat and create enjoyable memories close to home. We will do our utmost to manage water quality and safety, ensuring these spaces are safe and accessible for everyone.”
