Jung Chulwon, the mayor of Damyang County in South Jeolla Province, held his first meeting with town and township chiefs since taking office on the 26th to discuss the main directions of county administration and current issues.

According to the county on the 27th, the purpose of the meeting was to share Mayor Jung's administrative policy of "putting residents and the field at the center" with the towns and townships, and to seek practical measures for implementing resident-oriented county administration.

During the meeting, there were in-depth discussions on a variety of current issues, including: ▲conversations with residents by visiting villages ▲preparations for the 21st presidential election ▲measures to prepare for summer disasters and protect vulnerable groups ▲establishing discipline among public officials and improving civil complaint response.

Mayor Jung, in particular, received a report on the operation plan for "conversations with residents by visiting villages," which involves visiting all 325 villages starting in June to explain the direction of county administration and listen to local issues. He requested, "Since this is a valuable opportunity to directly reflect residents' voices in county administration, I ask everyone to make thorough preparations in advance."

He also emphasized the need for strict political neutrality among public officials and cooperation in encouraging voter participation ahead of the 21st presidential election. The mayor focused on establishing a preemptive response system for natural disasters during the summer. He shared and encouraged the implementation of field-centered response plans, such as ▲pre-inspections of disaster-prone areas and agricultural infrastructure (reservoirs, water gates, etc.) ▲inspections of cooling shelter operations ▲establishing protection measures for groups vulnerable to heatwaves, to prepare for disasters such as floods and heatwaves.

Additionally, changes to the Hometown Love Donation Program and other major county-wide issues were shared, and the mayor called for organic cooperation between towns, townships, and departments to enhance administrative effectiveness.

Mayor Jung stated, "The core of county administration is to quickly identify and proactively respond to issues that affect residents' lives. I hope the town and township chiefs will actively communicate with residents at the front lines and reflect the voices from the field in county administration."
