Prevention of Safety Accidents and Expansion of Parking Spaces
Through Renovation of Aging Public Parking Lots
Jinhae District of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, announced on May 27 that it had visited the site of the public parking lot improvement project at 973-4 Gyeonghwa-dong, Gyeonghwa Market Road, to inspect the progress of the construction.
Jinhyun Seop, Mayor of Jinhae District Office, visited and inspected the public parking lot at Gyeonghwa Market Road.
Near 973-4 Gyeonghwa-dong, where the public parking lot for the project is located, there is the Gyeonghwa Market, which operates as a five-day market, and the area is densely populated with commercial buildings and residences, making it a high-demand area for parking lot use.
However, the existing sidewalk blocks had been in use for a long time and had become worn out, resulting in frequent damage, lifting, sinking, and water pooling caused by vehicle loads, which required a major overhaul.
In response, Jinhae District secured a budget of 120 million won from the Mutual Growth Special Account to prevent safety accidents and improve user convenience. The district is carrying out improvement work including asphalt pavement (A=1,365㎡), road surface painting (108㎡), and installation of 88 car stoppers. The project is scheduled to be completed in June.
Additionally, through this improvement project, the district plans to utilize leftover spaces within the existing parking lot to rearrange parking spaces, thereby increasing the number of parking spaces from 42 to 47, an expansion of 5 spaces.
Jinhyun Seop, Mayor of Jinhae District Office, stated, "We will do our best to prevent safety accidents and improve the parking environment for users through continuous inspection and maintenance of aging public parking lots in the district."
