The Namtang Rainbow Road, a project being developed by Hongseong County in South Chungcheong Province with the aim of creating the most emotionally appealing coastal road on the west coast, has been unveiled ahead of its completion.
Scheduled for official completion at the end of this month, the Namtang Rainbow Road is one of the key projects in Hongseong County's initiative to establish a western coastal tourism belt. The road stretches approximately 1.3 kilometers along a sandy beach, connecting Namtang Port Marine Fountain Park to Eosahang, and is currently under construction.
Before this project began, the section had a narrow roadway and no sidewalks, causing inconvenience for both vehicles and pedestrians. However, with the development of the Namtang Rainbow Road, including the addition of sidewalks, it is expected to be transformed into a safe and pleasant tourist attraction.
The Namtang Rainbow Road features a vibrant rainbow-colored design that contrasts with the white sandy beach. Set against the backdrop of the sea and sky, it has quickly gained popularity as a spot for taking memorable photos to upload on social media, simply by walking along the road.
In addition, an automatic lighting system is being installed along the entire Namtang Rainbow Road, which will illuminate the area in the evening. This will allow visitors to enjoy the refreshing marine scenery of Cheonsuman Bay during the day and the emotionally rich night views after dark, transforming the area into a vibrant 24-hour tourist destination.
A county official stated, "We expect the Namtang Rainbow Road to become a symbolic space that will drive the future of tourism in Hongseong," adding, "We will continue to develop various tourism infrastructure that harmonizes with the marine nature of Cheonsuman Bay, striving to make Hongseong the most emotionally appealing tourism city on the west coast."
