U.S. Forces Korea Presents Plaque of Appreciation to Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation: "Strengthening the South Korea-U.S. Alliance Through Cultural Exchange"

Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation (President Kim Namil) announced on May 27 that it had received a plaque of appreciation from the U.S. Army Materiel Support Command-Korea (MSC-K, Camp Carroll).


The plaque was awarded in recognition of the corporation's ongoing efforts to introduce Gyeongbuk's traditional culture and tourism resources to U.S. military personnel and their families stationed in Korea. In particular, the corporation was highly praised for its contributions to promoting cultural exchange between the two countries and strengthening the South Korea-U.S. alliance.

The award ceremony took place on May 22 during the annual Camp Carroll commemoration event in Daegu, where Commander Brian Donohue personally presented the plaque of appreciation.


Commander Donohue expressed his gratitude, stating, "The passionate efforts of the Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation have enriched the experiences of Camp Carroll personnel and stakeholders, and have served as a valuable foundation for strengthening the South Korea-U.S. alliance."


Since 2019, the Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Corporation has organized Gyeongbuk familiarization tours for U.S. troops stationed in areas such as Pyeongtaek, Daegu, and Chilgok.


In particular, over the past two years, the corporation has led 23 tour programs?including local festivals, traditional cultural experiences, and wellness trips?introducing the charms of Gyeongbuk tourism to approximately 1,000 U.S. military personnel and their families.


Additionally, the corporation has played a significant role in cultural diplomacy by inviting Gyeongbuk traditional performance groups to official Camp Carroll events every year, offering direct introductions to Korea's unique culture.


President Kim Namil stated, "This plaque of appreciation is the result of the passion of all our employees, as well as our close cooperation with the U.S. military in Korea," adding, "We will continue to work harder to promote friendship between our two countries through culture and tourism."
