In the era of an aging society, seniors are once again taking center stage in the logistics field. The senior delivery specialist platform "Naeiruri" is going beyond simple job matching by leveraging AI technology to automate the entire process from recruiting senior personnel to logistics operations.
Naeiruri is a delivery matching platform specifically for people aged 50 and above. Rather than just offering simple quick delivery services, it handles deliveries where repetition and punctuality are crucial, such as meal boxes, catering, B2C scheduled deliveries, and recycling collection. Unlike typical logistics drivers, these seniors work shorter hours, averaging 4 to 6 hours per day, creating a structure that allows seniors who experience social isolation to work steadily.
On the 21st in Mapo, Seoul, Jung Hyunkang, CEO of Naeiruri (age 30), told Asia Economy, "The technology is not designed to replace people, but to enable more seniors to work," emphasizing, "Through AI, we are securing both verification and efficiency."
Naeiruri has introduced a GPT-based AI interview program that automates "reliability verification," which is the biggest hurdle in hiring seniors. Applicants participate in remote interviews via an online link, and the AI analyzes their responses to score factors such as potential for long-term employment, sincerity, physical fitness, digital adaptability, and on-site suitability.
The match rate between AI interview results and actual evaluations by human managers is about 80%. Jung stated, "The system is now stable enough to completely replace face-to-face interviews," and added, "The cost per interview is only about 700 to 800 won, so it serves the role of more than one person."
The AI interview system is also a core infrastructure for expanding recruitment nationwide. Jung explained, "Introducing AI was essential to expand our activities from Seoul to the entire country."
In the field, Naeiruri's proprietary AI system "Ong Engine" is in operation. The AI determines in real time how to distribute assigned delivery volumes to drivers, and what order and routes are optimal. This technology was developed through the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startup) project in 2022, and has now been fully patented.
Since its implementation, Ong Engine's delivery delay rate has dropped to less than 0.3%, and the number of deliveries per hour is higher than that of competing platforms. Jung explained, "Because the AI automatically plans complex urban routes, senior drivers who may have physical limitations can work much more easily."
Recently, Naeiruri decided to convert all employees to freelance contracts. This was in response to increased fixed labor costs due to reduced employment subsidies and an economic slowdown. Instead, the company is transitioning to a structure that allows more middle-aged and senior individuals to participate flexibly.
Currently, Naeiruri has about 700 middle-aged and senior delivery workers, and its clients include meal distribution companies such as Ourhome and Hyundai Green Food. Going forward, the company plans to obtain a staffing agency license and launch a dispatch business to supply middle-aged workers for workplaces that require shifts as short as 2 to 3 hours per day.
Jung stated, "AI is a tool for efficiency, but at the same time, it is social infrastructure that enables seniors to work," adding, "Through technology, we will address the insecurity of senior employment and pioneer a nationwide workforce matching market."
