Eunpyeong-gu to Launch AI-Based "Smart Oral Examination Management System"

Seoul's Eunpyeong-gu will officially launch its "Smart Oral Examination Management System," which is based on artificial intelligence (AI) analysis, starting next month. Eunpyeong-gu announced that it will begin accepting advance reservations by phone starting from the 22nd.

This program targets vulnerable groups aged 20 and older who find it difficult to visit dental clinics. When eligible individuals visit the Eunpyeong-gu Public Health Center for a dental panoramic X-ray, the resulting images are uploaded to a dedicated cloud platform, where AI automatically screens for major oral diseases such as dental caries, apical periodontitis, and alveolar bone loss. Based on these results, a dentist at the health center conducts an oral examination, and a dental hygienist provides professional oral health education.

In particular, if a serious condition is suspected, the images are sent for remote interpretation to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at Seoul National University Dental Hospital, enabling precise diagnosis and early treatment. All examinations are provided free of charge and can be accessed by making an advance reservation by phone. For more information, contact the Oral Health Center at Eunpyeong-gu Public Health Center at 02-351-8238.

Kim Mikyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, stated, "Oral health is directly linked to quality of life, but many people miss regular checkups due to financial burdens or time constraints. Through this AI-powered oral examination, we aim to detect diseases early and advance treatment timing, building a robust public healthcare system so that everyone can enjoy a healthy daily life."
