The Chungnam Provincial Council announced that on the morning of the 20th, it held a "Youth Parliamentary Education Session" in the council's main chamber, attended by 33 students from Sinbang Elementary School in Cheonan, as well as about 40 participants including guiding teachers.
During the session, students listened to campaign speeches by candidates running for the position of chairperson, participated in a vote to elect the chairperson, and experienced the role of a provincial council member. On this day, Sinbang Elementary School students delivered two-minute speeches on the topics of "Not playing pranks on friends" and "Flushing the toilet properly." They also directly participated in the legislative process by deliberating and voting on two proposed ordinances: "Ordinance on Prohibiting Snack Consumption on School Buses" and "Ordinance on Allowing Bicycle Riding within the School."
A representative of the provincial council stated, "We will continue to provide opportunities for youth to learn about the principles of local autonomy, which is the foundation of grassroots democracy, and the role of local councils through parliamentary experience programs."
