Osan Seeks Resident Proposal Projects for Next Year's Budget

Intensive Call for Proposals Open Until July 21

On May 20, the city of Osan in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will be holding an intensive call for proposals for "Resident Proposal Projects for the 2026 Participatory Budget" until July 21, allowing citizens to directly participate in the budget formulation process.

Osan Seeks Resident Proposal Projects for Next Year's Budget

The "Participatory Budget System" is a system that connects the inconveniences and needs experienced by citizens in their daily lives to the budget. It aims to expand opportunities for citizen participation in municipal administration and to drive substantial local change.

Any citizen who resides in Osan, or works or attends school within the city, can participate in the call for proposals. If residents propose projects that have a high degree of public benefit and feasibility, such as improving local convenience or enhancing welfare, the city will review them through the relevant departments and the Participatory Budget Committee. Projects that are selected will be reflected in next year's budget plan.

Resident proposal projects incorporated into this year's budget include the following: the Dolmen Park Traditional Play Experience Project and the UN Peace Park Exercise Equipment Installation Project.

Lee Kwonjae, Mayor of Osan, stated, "The participatory budget system is a valuable channel through which citizens can directly participate in municipal administration," and added, "I hope that innovative ideas arising from citizens' daily lives will become the driving force for positive change in our community."
