The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants (KICPA) announced on May 20 that it will hold the 7th Value Evaluation Forum on May 26.
This forum will be held under the theme "A Study on the Market Risk Premium (MRP) in Korea," with Professor Namcheol Jung of Hongik University delivering the keynote presentation. The discount rate has long been a core element in valuation, and the MRP is a decisive variable that forms the foundation for determining the discount rate. Since 2022, KICPA has published Korean-style MRP guidance reflecting the domestic economic and market environment, which has been widely used as an important standard in valuation practice.
This forum aims to provide broader and more practical insights than previous analytical methods by incorporating the results of a large-scale expert survey conducted last month. KICPA stated, "By re-examining the discount rate, a key element in valuation practice, and gathering opinions from various experts, we expect the forum to serve as a platform for knowledge sharing and discussion."
The forum will be held as a webinar, allowing real-time online participation.
Choi Woonyeol, president of KICPA, said, "The MRP is a key variable that determines the accuracy and reliability of corporate valuation in the field of value evaluation," adding, "We hope this forum will further broaden understanding of the MRP and serve as an opportunity to enhance the expertise and reliability of the valuation field."
