Taking Key Roles in Economic Growth and Policy Planning
"Visiting the Field and Listening Deeply with a 'Problem and Answer on the Ground' Mindset"
"Seeking a Path of Change Connecting Industry, Region, and the Future"
Ando Geol, Member of the National Assembly.
Ando Geol, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea representing Gwangju Dongnam-eul, is taking on five key roles in the "Real Republic of Korea Election Countermeasures Committee" ahead of the 21st presidential election, actively engaging in both policy operations and field-oriented activities.
Ando currently serves as: ▲Chairman of the Committee for Revitalizing Industrial Crisis Areas under the Central Election Committee, ▲Senior Vice Chairman of the Candidate's Economic Growth Committee, ▲Executive Vice Chairman of the Candidate's National Land and Spatial Innovation Committee, ▲Deputy Head of the Policy Headquarters of the General Election Countermeasures Headquarters, and ▲Standing Election Committee Chairman for Gwangju.
As Chairman of the Committee for Revitalizing Industrial Crisis Areas under the Central Election Committee, he has been listening to voices from the industrial sector and proposing crisis response policies. Starting with a visit to the Ulsan Petrochemical Complex on May 15, he held a policy proposal session with the shipbuilding industry at the Yeongam Daebul National Industrial Complex on May 19, and is scheduled to visit Daejeon Edge Foundry on May 22 for a roundtable with the semiconductor and robotics industries.
As Senior Vice Chairman of the Candidate's Economic Growth Committee, Ando continues to develop policies for establishing new industrial bases and securing future growth engines. Notably, on May 8, he chaired the "Gwangju-Jeonnam Innovation Industry Development Strategy Seminar" at Jeonil Building 245 in Gwangju, where he led key agenda presentations and discussions on regionally specialized industries such as the AI Computing Park, the National Industrial Complex for Future Vehicles, and the Urban Bio Cluster. He also played a leading role in publishing two policy proposal books for the next administration, collaborating with professors and former officials, and plans to host a town hall meeting with K-Culture entrepreneurs at the KT&G Sangsang Planet Connect Hall on May 23 to present growth strategies for the content, youth, and digital industries.
As Executive Vice Chairman of the Candidate's National Land and Spatial Innovation Committee, Ando heads the Fiscal Innovation for Balanced Development Subcommittee, working to develop concrete plans for restructuring fiscal and administrative systems to support the integration and autonomy of local governments. He is also focused on establishing policy foundations to bridge the gap between the Seoul metropolitan area and non-metropolitan regions. In particular, he is designing strategies for fostering mega-cities in the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam and Honam regions as economic communities to rival the capital region, as well as the "Mega Sandbox" initiative to cultivate new industries tailored to local characteristics.
As Deputy Head of the Policy Headquarters of the General Election Countermeasures Headquarters, Ando is working to detail Lee Jaemyung's key campaign pledges and craft policy messages that connect issues such as livelihoods, the economy, and welfare to the daily lives of citizens.
As Standing Election Committee Chairman for Gwangju, he is serving as a bridge between local voters and the central election committee by engaging with the community and listening to their voices, while actively ensuring that Gwangju's messages are reflected in the presidential campaign strategy.
Ando stated, "I will continue to visit the field more often and listen more deeply, maintaining the attitude that 'the problem is on the ground, and the answer is on the ground,' as I work together with candidate Lee Jaemyung to create a path of real change connecting industries, regions, and the future."
