Memories Evoked by Light and Sound... '2025 Delight Seoul'

Media Art '2025 Delight Seoul' Opens at Dawonseo on Dohwaseo-gil
Featuring Works by Media Artist Hong Kyungtae of Design Silverfish

Upon entering the exhibition hall, visitors are greeted by 631 Cheongsachorong lanterns. Surrounded by the light of hundreds of lanterns, the perfectly timed sound of bells cuts through the air and reaches the ears. The space, captivated by light and sound, creates the illusion of being in an unknown world. This is the story of the artwork titled '631.' This piece was created to commemorate the year 2024, marking 631 years since Seoul was designated as the capital of Joseon. It visualizes the flow of time connecting Seoul's past, present, and future through the movement of light.

The media art exhibition '2025 Delight Seoul' has opened at D1 on Dohwaseo-gil in Jongno, Seoul. 'Delight' is a media art project independently developed by Design Silverfish Co., Ltd. Since its debut in Seoul in 2021, it has received enthusiastic responses in major cities such as New York, Washington, Paris, Dubai, and Tokyo as a Korean-style content. This exhibition brings together the most popular works from global exhibitions held over the past five years in one place.

The artworks are designed as participatory content for the audience. By adding interactive elements using artificial intelligence (AI) to devices such as mirrors, the exhibition enhances the enjoyment of media art. A representative explained, "Visitors can physically enter the artwork, touch and interact with it, move freely, and engage in filming and editing. Through this process, the content is continuously recreated and completed."

The exhibition spans six floors and covers a total area of 3,306 square meters. With the theme of 'the diversity and duality of the city,' each floor features modern elements such as neon signs, commercial signage, and skyscrapers, evoking individual memories, emotions, and imaginations about Seoul.

This exhibition also offers an added element of fun with the 'Delight AR Video Hunt Game' for visitors. After installing the 'Delight Collective' application, visitors search for hidden QR codes on each floor to collect AR videos of the 'Delight 12 Zodiac Guardian Characters.' Those who complete the mission receive a modern reinterpretation of the 'Delight 12 Zodiac Guardian Character Doll' as a gift.

The 'Cosmic Journeys' piece displays a three-dimensional image of the constellation corresponding to the visitor's birth date when entered. It also digitally reinterprets and projects the 'Cheonsang Yeolcha Bunyajido,' considered the second oldest map in the world. An exhibition representative explained, "By connecting each individual's story with thousands of years of tradition, the work reminds us that each person has a unique star signature, asserting their presence even within the vast universe."

Mirrors and installations play a significant role in the exhibition. According to a representative, the process in which each visitor photographs, edits, and shares their own reflection within the artwork signifies that the piece is continuously recreated and completed through audience participation.

Hong Kyungtae, media artist and CEO of Design Silverfish Co., Ltd., stated, "2025 Delight Seoul was inspired by Seoul, one of the most symbolic cities of our time." He added, "The exhibition is completed through the process in which visitors become one with the content, capturing, editing, and creating their own images." He further requested, "Please experience the works as closely as possible?see, listen, touch, feel, and immerse yourself?so that these pieces can become an art platform for individual creators living in the heart of Seoul."

The exhibition runs until November 15. Admission is 28,000 won.
