Reading Spaces to Be Created at 25 Children's Centers

SK Innovation is expanding its "Happy Dream Library" project to improve the reading environment for children in rural and fishing communities. The initiative involves transforming spaces at local children's centers to be more reading-friendly and donating both essential and newly released books.

On May 13, SK Innovation announced plans to create new reading spaces or support existing facilities at 25 local children's centers this year. This marks a significant expansion from last year's project, which donated approximately 8,000 books and operated reading programs at 15 rural children's centers nationwide.

On the previous day, at the SK Seorin Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, SK Innovation signed a business agreement with Kyobo Book Centre and Save the Children. The three organizations will cooperate by dividing their roles: SK Innovation will be responsible for project management and funding; Kyobo Book Centre will select and supply books tailored for children; and Save the Children will handle the selection of centers, library creation, and book delivery. In addition, the "Book Book Book Donation Project," which encourages citizens to donate books directly, will also be promoted.

The "Happy Sharing Fund," created through SK Innovation employees donating 1% of their salaries, will be used for this project. This fund has been accumulating since 2017, reaching a total of 22.6 billion won by 2024, and has been used for a variety of social contribution activities. A company representative stated, "This project is an effort to practically improve the educational environment for children in rural areas through the joint participation of corporations, citizens, and the local community."
