[Market Focus] Woomdumi Farm Surges on Lee Jaemyung's "National Strategic Industry" Pledge, Eyes 44 Trillion Won Smart Farm Market

Woomdumi Farm, a leading company in the domestic smart farm sector, is experiencing strong stock performance. This appears to be influenced by presidential candidate Lee Jaemyung's statement that "agriculture is a strategic industry that safeguards food sovereignty and national security," and his pledge that "in the era of climate crisis, the state will take responsibility for the nation's food supply."

As of 2:24 p.m. on May 12, Woomdumi Farm was trading at 1,912 won, up 21.78% from the previous trading day.

Woomdumi Farm operates a convergence business that connects cultivation, production, and distribution based on smart farm technology. Unlike typical smart farm companies that provide greenhouse construction services based on materials, equipment, or construction technology, Woomdumi Farm offers processes that enable customers to build and operate sustainable smart farms, leveraging over 10 years of cultivation expertise.

Through its "Korean-style semi-closed glass greenhouse," Woomdumi Farm enables agriculture that is fully prepared not only for abnormal weather but also for natural disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes. It provides an optimal agricultural environment by integrating over 20 years of crop cultivation know-how with information and communication technology (ICT).

Candidate Lee announced his agricultural, livestock, and food policy pledges via social media, stating, "The foundation of Korea's rise to become one of the world's top 10 economies is the sweat, tears, and dedication of farmers," and added, "Now, the state will respond with responsible agricultural policies." He first pledged to "increase the food self-sufficiency rate and establish a crisis warning system to proactively respond to climate crises," and announced plans to "promote 'climate-adaptive agriculture' that is resilient to climate change."

Previously, last month, he emphasized the expansion of smart agriculture. He promised, "We will expand smart agriculture that incorporates advanced technologies such as robotics and artificial intelligence (AI)," and added, "We will build a smart agricultural system resilient to climate crises and develop customized smart farm models suitable for small and medium-sized farms."

The European-style vegetable greenhouse, which is being constructed with the goal of completion in the first half of this year, incorporates all of Woomdumi Farm's technical expertise. The Moving Gully System, an automated cultivation bed transport system, automates every process from the initial cultivation stage to harvest, integrating all stages of cultivation, production, and distribution. The DFT (Deep Flow Technique) system, which allows crop roots to be immersed in nutrient solution, maximizes growth potential, enables reuse of drainage, and achieves high energy efficiency, thereby realizing sustainable agriculture.

Woomdumi Farm is participating in a project to build the largest smart farm agricultural bio complex in Korea. Of the 120,000-pyeong site designated for smart farm construction, the company plans to complete a glass greenhouse smart farm on 46,000 pyeong in the first half of next year and immediately begin tomato cultivation in the second half of this year.

According to Hana Securities, the global smart farm market is projected to grow rapidly from 26.3 trillion won in 2023 to 43.5 trillion won in 2026. Woomdumi Farm, recognized for its proprietary semi-closed smart farm technology, continues to pursue collaborations for overseas expansion. In Middle Eastern countries, there is high demand for smart farm construction due to climate change, high agricultural product price volatility, and food security concerns. The company has established a bridgehead for entering the Middle Eastern market by signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) worth 10 million dollars with Elite Agro, Dubai's largest agricultural company, for the design, construction, and establishment of smart farms. Woomdumi Farm is also pursuing smart farm business cooperation with Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The company is expanding into the global smart farm market by establishing and distributing local stevia tomato processing facilities.
