To Celebrate the 58th Anniversary: Documenting the Yeosu Plant Site
Capturing the Turnaround Process and Hosting an Online Exhibition
GS Caltex is holding the 'GS Tower Black and White Photo Exhibition' to mark its 58th anniversary, highlighting the production site at its Yeosu plant in Yeosu, Jeollanam-do. The exhibition is being held both offline at GS Tower in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and at the Yeosu plant, while an online exhibition is also available through a digital gallery utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The exhibition was planned to document the work and lives of employees at the energy production site.
GS Caltex announced that from the 12th to the 23rd, the black and white photo exhibition will take place in the B1 floor and first-floor lobby of GS Tower in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. A second exhibition will subsequently be held at the Yeosu plant. The theme of this photo exhibition is 'The Heart of GS Caltex, Records of Yeosu.' The Yeosu plant, which is twice the size of Yeouido, is a core hub of South Korea's refining and petrochemical industry, operating 24 hours a day. This exhibition captures the site from the perspectives and stories of its employees.

The exhibition features about 40 photographs, categorized into four themes: I, You, We, and Future. The collection includes individual portraits, moments of collaboration, group photos highlighting teamwork, and panoramic and facility shots of the Yeosu plant symbolizing the future. These images showcase the diverse aspects of the industrial site. In particular, photographs depicting the 'TA (Turnaround)' process draw attention. TA refers to a large-scale inspection in which all facilities at a refinery or petrochemical plant are shut down once every few years for comprehensive maintenance.
GS Caltex is also operating an online exhibition for those unable to visit in person. The digital gallery incorporates AI-powered motion content, transforming static photographs into dynamic videos to provide visitors with an immersive experience. The online exhibition is accessible to everyone via the GS Caltex Media Hub website.
GS Caltex stated that the medium of black and white photography emphasizes the gravity and authenticity of the industrial site, elevating the value of the images beyond simple documentation to that of 'industrial cultural assets.' A GS Caltex representative said, "We hope this photo exhibition will serve as an opportunity to reflect on the dedication of our employees and enhance their pride," adding, "Through the online gallery, we aimed to share this value with even more people."
