Gijang-eup in Gijang-gun Holds "Knock Knock Knock, the Flowers Have Arrived (Hyo)" to Comfort Elderly Living Alone on Parents' Day

Gijang-eup in Gijang-gun delivered a heartwarming message to the local community with a unique sharing event to comfort elderly people living alone in celebration of Parents' Day.

Gijang-eup (headed by Lee Sangsik) announced on May 9 that, together with the Gijang-eup Community Security Council (co-chaired by Lee Sangsik and Kwon Myoyeon), it carried out a special Parents' Day project called "Knock Knock Knock, the Flowers Have Arrived (Hyo)" on May 7.

This project was designed to reduce the emotional isolation of elderly people living alone by personally delivering carnations and health drinks to them. On that day, council members visited 25 households of elderly people living alone in the area, delivering gifts along with words of gratitude and wishes for their health.

Some elderly recipients were moved to tears by the unexpected visit. One elderly person said, "I thought carnations were for others since I have no children, but I am truly grateful that you came to see me like this."

Kwon Myoyeon, the civilian co-chair, said, "I hope the elderly were able to spend a warm and pleasant day through this sharing event," and added, "We will continue to carry out various care projects for our neighbors."

Gijang-eup plans to use this event as an opportunity to further strengthen its cooperative system to address welfare blind spots in the region and enhance emotional care.
