Service Contract Worth 260 Million Won Underway
Completion Scheduled for July Next Year

On May 8, at the 2nd plenary session of the 330th extraordinary meeting, Oh Miseop, a councilor of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council, called for thorough planning and budgeting to ensure the smooth progress of the Seochang Park Golf Course project during a 'five-minute free speech' session.

Councilor Oh expressed both support and anticipation for the project, stating, "The Seochang Park Golf Course is expected to become a leisure facility that harmonizes with nature and can be safely enjoyed by people of all ages and genders."

She went on to express concerns about the progress of the project, citing delays in the river occupation permit process and insufficient budget allocation, and requested that the relevant administrative procedures be carried out promptly and transparently.

Additionally, she emphasized, "Currently, a service contract worth 260 million won is underway, and an additional 1.9 billion won in funding will be needed in the future. As local government finances are limited, multifaceted efforts are required, including securing national and city funding and obtaining special grant tax support."

She further stated that the park golf course could serve as a hub for generational integration and the restoration of the local community, going beyond a simple sports facility. She proposed that residents' opinions be fully reflected and suggested sustainable operation plans linked with regionally tailored welfare programs.

Finally, she added, "I hope the Seochang Park Golf Course will become a new landmark in Seo-gu and serve as a valuable opportunity to invigorate the local community."

Currently, Seo-gu is conducting a service contract for the construction of the park golf course, with the project location set in the Seochang-dong area and completion planned for July next year.
