"Please Do Not Believe False Information" Urges Huawei
"Official Recruitment Website Is the Only Legitimate Channel"
Huawei of China has issued an urgent statement urging people not to believe false information, after reports emerged of scams impersonating the company's internship recruitment on job information websites.
On May 8, several Chinese media outlets, including Guangming Daily, cited Huawei's official WeChat account, reporting that "scam cases related to Huawei internship recruitment have occurred on some job information websites," and that "many students are believed to have been deceived by the false information."
According to the reports, some job information websites have been selling materials such as 'internal recommendation internships' and 'internship recommendation letters' related to Huawei for a fee online.
Huawei stated that it has never established internship cooperation through third-party agencies or individuals, and requested that any false information found should be reported immediately via its official email. The company also emphasized that its official recruitment website is the only legitimate channel for hiring.
Huawei further explained, "After completing the internship, interns can obtain a certificate of internship from the Huawei Human Resources Service Center." The company urged students to stay updated on the latest recruitment news through Huawei's official recruitment website and WeChat account, and not to trust false information circulating online.
Meanwhile, in recent years, China has faced a serious youth unemployment problem as a major social issue, due to economic stagnation and a severe employment downturn. In addition, the 'tariff war' initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump has further increased the burden. Since 2023, China has changed its method to exclude university students from unemployment rate calculations, but the youth unemployment rate still approaches 20%. According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China, the urban unemployment rate for those aged 16 to 24 was 16.5% in March this year. For three consecutive months since January, the rate has exceeded 16%. The unemployment rate for the non-student labor force aged 25 to 29 is 7.3%, and for the non-student labor force aged 30 to 59, it is 4.3%.
