Agricultural specialty products from Damyang County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Jeong Cheolwon), recorded strong sales and received an enthusiastic response from tourists during the May holiday period.
According to the county on May 8, the agricultural specialty product sales booth operated at the 24th Damyang Bamboo Festival from May 2 to 6 achieved remarkable results, recording sales of over 60 million won despite the bad weather during the holiday period.
This year's festival featured 19 leading agricultural specialty product producers from Damyang, offering visitors a taste of Damyang's healthy flavors through products such as blueberries, cherry tomatoes, watermelons, mushrooms, traditional sauces, medicinal liquors, traditional sweets, and processed strawberry products.
In particular, this year, the festival expanded communication with visitors through a variety of activities, including product tasting experiences, face painting volunteer services, and real-time social media promotions. These efforts went beyond simple sales, raising both the recognition and value of Damyang's agricultural specialty products.
The county confirmed the potential for revitalizing local food distribution in connection with regional festivals through this event. It plans to further expand sales channels for local agricultural products by operating direct transaction markets and promoting online-linked marketing campaigns.
Governor Jeong Cheolwon stated, "The festival provided an opportunity to showcase the excellence of local agricultural specialty products and promote consumption," adding, "We will continue to strengthen the foundation of a sustainable local economy through diverse cooperation with producers."
Meanwhile, 'Damyang Market,' the county's official agricultural specialty product online shopping mall, is holding a discount event in celebration of Family Month in May, offering 20% off all products (30% off traditional sauces) until May 11.
