This activity, conducted on May 7, was organized to proactively respond to disasters and emergencies during the summer rainy season, especially in areas that suffered flood damage last summer due to record-breaking heavy rainfall. The goal was to restore the drainage function by removing debris such as fallen leaves and garbage accumulated in the rainwater drains, thereby preventing future flood damage.

With extreme heavy rainfall expected again this summer due to abnormal climate conditions, more than 100 people, including the head of Jinhae District Office, police officers, volunteer firefighters, members of local organizations, and staff from the district and local offices, joined forces to participate in the maintenance activity.

Under the on-site traffic guidance of the police and volunteer fire brigade, the participants were divided into four teams. Various organizations, including the Autonomous Disaster Prevention Corps, Saemaeul Association, Civil Complaints Service Corps, Saemaeul Women's Association, Tongjang Association, and Volunteer Corps, collaborated to maintain 75 rainwater drains in flood-prone areas out of the 784 drains located within Seokdong.

Jung Hyunseop, head of Jinhae District Office, stated, "This joint maintenance is significant not only for preventing flooding in our area, but also because related organizations and residents are working together with one heart and mind to protect the local community." He added, "We will continue to prioritize the safety of our residents and do our best to prevent disasters in advance."

Meanwhile, Jinhae District has designated the period until the end of June, before the start of the rainy season, as a focused maintenance period for rainwater drains, and plans to intensively maintain 1,500 locations across 13 local administrative districts.
