According to Yonhap News on May 7, police officers including Inspector A from the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency loaded golf bags into the trunk of an official van in front of the Incheon Traffic Information Center in Namdong-gu around 6 p.m. on April 16 and then traveled to a screen golf facility.
At the time, it is reported that two to three active-duty police officers, including Inspector A, were in the official vehicle together.
Inspector A explained to Yonhap News, "I used the official vehicle for personal purposes due to a lapse in judgment, and I have no excuse," adding, "Since there was a lot of luggage, I used the official vehicle without much thought when traveling with police colleagues to a screen golf facility about five minutes away by car."
He continued, "I think I used the official vehicle with one or two police colleagues at the time, but I do not remember the exact number of people," and added, "We played golf together for about three to four hours and then returned the vehicle."
Meanwhile, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency stated that it is currently verifying the facts regarding the allegations of personal use of the official vehicle.
