Gyeonggi Province will select 400 reading clubs within the province and provide each with books worth 400,000 won.
On May 8, Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Lifelong Education Promotion Agency announced that they will be recruiting reading clubs to participate in the "2025 Gyeonggi Province Reading Club Revitalization Project" until May 23. The project aims to promote a reading culture and activate lifelong learning communities.
The recruitment is open to reading clubs composed of at least five Gyeonggi Province residents that hold regular meetings at least once a month. A total of 400 teams will be selected and supported.
Eligible applicants are autonomous clubs that have started or are preparing to start a reading group. Applications can be submitted through the Reading Club Support Center website (readinggroup.or.kr). However, clubs with political, religious, or commercial purposes, as well as organizations receiving other public subsidies or book support, are excluded.
Gyeonggi Province will provide the selected clubs with books worth a total of 400,000 won, distributed in two installments. Additionally, 45 teams will receive author special lecture fees, and 40 teams will be offered individualized mentoring. Furthermore, a total of four capacity-building training sessions will be held to provide practical support for club operations.
The results of the selection will be announced on May 30 through the Reading Club Support Center website and via individual text messages.
