The four-day festival, which ran from the 3rd to the 6th, drew large crowds of families and couples to the Mungyeongsaejae Open Set, demonstrating high levels of interest despite intermittent spring rain during the holiday period.
On the first day of the festival, the opening stage was brilliantly decorated by a 'star marketing' performance featuring Park Gun, Woongsan, Younggi, Jumi, and Yoon Yunseo, all of whom serve as promotional ambassadors for Mungyeong City.
This was followed by a sand art video reflecting on the history of ceramics in Mungyeong and the significance of the Chatsabal Festival, as well as a symbolic performance announcing the festival's vision, which was linked to the soon-to-begin construction of the Mungyeongsaejae cable car.
On the second day, a special exhibition was held featuring seven representative ceramic kilns from Mungyeong and 14 types of local specialty desserts, which received a great response. On the main stage at Gwanghwamun, invited artists from Yixing and Jingdezhen in China gave pottery demonstrations.
Demonstrations of Yixing teapot making, ceramic painting, and ceramic sculpture, each using different techniques, received enthusiastic applause from both citizens and tourists.
On May 5, Children's Day, a Hanbok fashion show featuring more than 90 Hanbok models from all over the country and a tightrope walking performance filled the open set with excitement.
At night, the 'Eco-friendly Campnic Night Concert' was held amid the tranquil scenery of Mungyeongsaejae, and despite the cold weather, many visitors enjoyed the performances late into the evening.
On the final day of the holiday, May 6, the <Ebenjers Live> performance featuring popular EBS characters took place. Targeting children, the event included a character parade, musical, and photo time, generating the most enthusiastic response of the festival period.
A festival official explained, "The significant increase in visitor numbers was due to the expansion of experiential content such as outdoor escape rooms, kiln tours, and pottery workshops; the diversification of Chatsabal-themed programs; and the improved accessibility brought by the opening of KTX Mungyeong Station."
Meanwhile, starting on May 7, Mungyeong City plans to continue the festival's momentum with a series of 'Citizen's Day' events involving residents from each town and district, as well as follow-up programs such as the 'National Powdered Tea Tuda Competition' and the 'Dawa Contest,' both utilizing Chatsabal.
