Sacheon City Receives Ministry of Food and Drug Safety Excellent Institution Award for Three Consecutive Years

Selected as an Excellent Institution by Central Government Ministries
for Three Consecutive Years over Eight Years Since 2014

Sacheon City in South Gyeongsang Province announced on May 8 that it has been selected as an Excellent Institution for three consecutive years in the Food Safety Management Excellent Institution Evaluation organized by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and has received an institutional commendation.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety evaluated 17 provinces and 228 cities, counties, and districts based on seven indicators, including: the establishment of food safety management infrastructure, the rate and detection rate of business inspections, the rate of processing civil complaints within the deadline, and the activity index of consumer food hygiene monitors.

Sacheon City received high marks for its inspections of delivery and distribution businesses reflecting changing consumer trends, collection and inspection of distributed foods for radioactivity, and the expansion of the hygiene monitor infrastructure.

As a result, Sacheon City has had the honor of receiving the Excellent Institution Award for three consecutive years over an eight-year period since 2014.

In particular, Jeong Seonggi, head of the Sacheon branch of the Korea Foodservice Industry Association, was awarded the Minister of Food and Drug Safety Award for his contributions to improving the level of food culture and food safety management. Kwon Hyuna, an official in the Health and Hygiene Division of Sacheon City, also received a commendation from the Governor of South Gyeongsang Province, marking a double celebration for the city.

Mayor Park Dongsik stated, "This award is the result of proactive food safety management efforts, from production to distribution and consumption, to create a safe food environment that citizens can trust."

He added, "With 2025 designated as the Year of Visiting Sacheon and many tourists expected to visit, we will make even greater efforts to ensure food safety management."
