The KOSPI recovered the 2,570 level as it rose on the back of net buying by both foreign investors and institutions.

KOSPI Recovers 2,570 Level on Joint Net Buying by Foreign Investors and Institutions On the 7th, as the three major indices of the New York stock market all declined, the KOSPI and won/dollar exchange rate were displayed on the status board in the dealing room at the Hana Bank headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, where the won/dollar exchange rate fell below 1,400 won. As of 10:16 a.m. on May 7, the KOSPI stood at 2,575.67, up 15.88 points (0.62%) from the previous trading day.


By investor type, foreign investors and institutions recorded net purchases of 61.9 billion won and 164.5 billion won, respectively. In contrast, individual investors recorded net sales of 211.2 billion won.


By sector, securities rose by 2.23%. Construction and electrical and electronics sectors also climbed more than 1%. In contrast, pharmaceuticals fell by 2.37%.


Among large-cap stocks, Samsung Electronics was trading at 54,700 won, up 400 won (0.74%) from the previous session. SK Hynix, Hanwha Aerospace, and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries each jumped more than 2%. In contrast, Samsung Biologics dropped by 2.76%, while Hyundai Motor, Celltrion, and Kia each declined by more than 1%.


The KOSDAQ stood at 719.33, down 2.53 points (0.35%) from the previous session.


By investor type, individuals and institutions recorded net purchases of 41.6 billion won and 8.9 billion won, respectively. In contrast, foreign investors recorded net sales of 41.4 billion won.


By sector, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and general services each fell by more than 1%. In contrast, machinery and equipment rose by more than 1%.


Among large-cap stocks, Alteogen was trading at 353,500 won, down 3,000 won (0.84%) from the previous session. LIG ChemBio and ABL Bio each fell by more than 5%, while Ecopro BM, Hugel, and Samchundang Pharm each dropped by more than 3%. In contrast, HLB and Kolon TissueGene each rose by more than 1%.
