Improving Living Conditions for Low-Income Households with Wallpapering and Flooring Replacement

Sanbuk-myeon in Mungyeong-si, Gyeongbuk is taking the lead in promoting a kindness movement among residents while carrying out a housing environment improvement project for low-income and vulnerable households in the area.

Sanbuk-myeon announced on the 6th that it had conducted a volunteer activity under the slogan "Kindness Temperature HOT Sanbuk! Volunteering YES Sanbuk!" in Ugok 1-ri on the 25th of last month, in collaboration with the Community Social Security Council.

The volunteer work that day included wallpapering and flooring replacement for households receiving basic livelihood support. The project aimed to improve poor living conditions and provide a safer and more comfortable living environment.

The "Kindness Temperature HOT Sanbuk! Volunteering YES Sanbuk!" campaign is a resident-led volunteer project unique to Sanbuk-myeon, designed to help realize "Smile City Mungyeong," one of Mungyeong-si's 15 key initiatives. The project involves visiting vulnerable groups in the community and assisting with cleaning, home repairs, and other activities to improve their living environment.

This activity saw the participation of 15 major local organizations, including the Residents' Autonomous Committee, the Village Head Association, and the Saemaeul Association. Sanbuk-myeon explained that this not only strengthened ties between organizations but also provided an opportunity for greater community integration.

Um Sanghee, the private chairperson of the Sanbuk-myeon Community Social Security Council, said, "Thanks to the voluntary participation and cooperation of residents, we were able to provide significant help to our marginalized neighbors," and added, "We will continue to do our best to address welfare blind spots."

Um Sangik, head of Sanbuk-myeon, also expressed, "I am deeply grateful to the residents who participated in volunteer activities despite this busy farming season," and emphasized, "We will spare no administrative support to ensure that Sanbuk-myeon can continue its sustainable kindness movement."

Sanbuk-myeon plans to continue expanding support for vulnerable groups in the community through ongoing volunteer activities, while working to establish a culture of kindness and enhance resident satisfaction.
