DeChambeau Hits Jackpot with $6.66 Million Winner’s Prize

'Hulk' Bryson DeChambeau (USA) has become the champion of LIV Golf Korea, which has a total prize fund of $25 million.

On May 4, at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Songdo, Incheon (par 72, 7,376 yards), DeChambeau shot a 6-under-par 66 in the third round, recording seven birdies and one bogey. He finished with a total score of 19-under-par 197, beating second-place Charles Howell III (USA) by two strokes. This is his third career LIV Golf victory and his first since the Chicago event in the United States in September 2023, marking a return to the winner's circle after one year and eight months. DeChambeau earned $4 million for the individual title and $750,000, which is 25% of the $3 million team prize, for a total of $4.75 million (approximately 6.66 billion KRW).

DeChambeau is a dominant player who has won the US Open, a major championship, in both 2020 and 2024. Following his runner-up finish at last week's event in Mexico, he has now posted strong results for two consecutive weeks. This season, he leads LIV Golf in average driving distance with 332 yards. In the team competition, the Crushers?composed of DeChambeau, Howell III, Paul Casey (England), and Anirban Lahiri (India)?claimed victory with a combined score of 35-under-par.

Jon Rahm (Spain) finished tied for seventh at 8-under-par 208, while Brooks Koepka (USA) finished tied for 17th at 5-under-par 211. Among Korean players, Kim Minkyu tied for 42nd at 2-over-par 218, and Jang Yubin tied for 48th at 5-over-par 221. Phil Mickelson (USA) struggled, finishing 50th out of 54 players at 7-over-par 223. Danny Lee (New Zealand) finished last in 54th place at 12-over-par 228.
