Full Closure of Jungang Heights to Palma Bridge Section on the Night of May 8
On May 1, Suncheon City in South Jeolla Province announced plans to install reflective road studs on the Riverside Overpass to prevent lane departure accidents and enhance the visibility of road boundaries.
The installation work will require a full closure of the section between Jungang Heights and Palma Bridge from 9:00 p.m. on May 8 until 5:00 a.m. the following day. To minimize inconvenience for residents, the city has scheduled the work for nighttime hours after the evening commute. The city also emphasized that thorough safety measures will be in place to prevent accidents during construction.
The Riverside Overpass is a major route with heavy traffic, and there have been ongoing concerns about the risk of accidents, particularly in curved sections and due to speeding. As a result, the city has decided to install reflective road studs to improve drivers' visibility and visual awareness.
A city official stated, "We plan to complete the work as quickly as possible to minimize inconvenience for road users," and requested, "We ask for your understanding and cooperation during the construction period."
