Pusan National University Professor Lee Gyejin Elected as Executive of American Educational Research Association

The Only Korean Elected This Year

Pusan National University (President Choi Jaewon) announced on May 1 that Professor Lee Gyejin of the Department of Education has been elected in the 2025 executive election of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), a prestigious international academic society in the field of education, as the only professor from a Korean university.

The American Educational Research Association (AERA) consists of various divisions and Special Interest Groups (SIGs). Each year, executives (Chair, Co-chair, Treasurer/Secretary) for each division and SIG are elected through a vote.

In the 2025 AERA election, Professor Lee Gyejin was elected as Secretary/Treasurer of the Structural Equation Modeling SIG, and will serve a one-year term starting from April 28, 2025. Typically, senior professors are elected as Chair or Co-chair, while junior professors serve as Secretary/Treasurer.

In this year’s AERA executive election, most of those elected were professors and researchers from overseas universities, and Professor Lee Gyejin was the only one elected from a Korean university.

Accordingly, Professor Lee Gyejin is expected to promote various activities to advance theory, methodology, and applied research related to structural equation modeling (SEM) in the field of educational research, as well as to facilitate academic exchange among researchers.
