Han Hoseong Performs First Pancreatic Cancer Surgery at Seongnam City Medical Center
Aims to Strengthen Treatment Capabilities for Severe Diseases
Han Hoseong, Director of Seongnam City Medical Center in Gyeonggi Province, personally performed a laparoscopic surgery on a pancreatic cancer patient on April 28. According to Seongnam City Medical Center on April 30, this was the first pancreatic cancer surgery conducted at the center since Director Han took office in September 2023, marking a significant step forward in strengthening the center's capacity to treat severe diseases.
The surgery was carried out in collaboration with general surgeon Kim Jinju. The patient, a 60-year-old man, is currently recovering and is reported to be in stable condition.
Director Han Hoseong is a leading authority in the field of hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery in Korea, having successfully performed numerous complex liver, biliary tract, and pancreatic surgeries as a professor at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. For this operation as well, Director Han remained in the operating room throughout and led the procedure personally from start to finish.
Director Han stated, "I hope this surgery will serve as a starting point for the advancement of the medical center," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our clinical capabilities to provide more specialized and trusted medical services to the citizens of Seongnam."
Seongnam City Medical Center plans to further enhance its treatment system for high-difficulty and severe diseases such as pancreatic cancer, and to expand the role of public medical institutions in the region as a result of this surgery.
