Donghwa-myeon in Jangseong County, South Jeolla Province, has begun preparations for the 2nd Donghwa Nara Verbena Festival, which is scheduled to take place at the end of June.

According to Jangseong County on April 30, approximately 150 people, including members of the local social organizations' association and public officials from the Donghwa-myeon office, recently planted 30,000 verbena plants and zinnias in the area around Lamp Park in Nampyeong-ri, which covers about 9,000 square meters.

Verbena, also known as "Beodeulmapyeoncho" in Korean, is a perennial plant that can be enjoyed year after year with regular maintenance and supplemental planting, without the need for replanting each season. Donghwa-myeon manages the planting area in cooperation with the Jangseong County Agricultural Technology Center, receiving regular technical guidance. The flower language of verbena is known to include "May your wishes come true," "family harmony," and "unity."

Jangseong County Governor Kim Hanjong, who visited the site, said, "I hope that the Verbena Festival, being held again this year, will provide warm memories and a time of rest for the residents."

The 2nd Donghwa Nara Verbena Festival is scheduled to be held at the end of June, coinciding with the verbena blooming season.
