Limited Editions, Discounts, and 1+1 Events for One Month in May
Embracing the Heritage of the Global 7-Eleven Brand
Korea Seven, the operator of the convenience store chain 7-Eleven, announced on April 30 that it will hold a major customer appreciation festival in celebration of its 37th anniversary. The history of convenience stores in Korea began in 1988 when Korea Seven signed a licensing agreement with 7-Eleven in the United States, and the following year, in May, opened the country’s first convenience store, "7-Eleven Olympic Athletes’ Village Branch."
The 37th Anniversary Customer Appreciation Festival was planned to highlight the 98-year history and heritage of the global 7-Eleven brand, which originated as the world’s first convenience store brand in 1927 at an ice shop in Dallas, Texas, and to commemorate the 37-year journey of creating, sustaining, and developing the convenience store industry in Korea.
Throughout May, 7-Eleven will present dramatic discount events and limited-edition goods under three themes: ▲‘Shocking Price’ ▲‘Best 1+1’ ▲‘7-Eleven App Daily Full of Benefits’.
7-Eleven will sell limited-edition goods that capture the heritage of the global 7-Eleven brand, including the "Ice Cooler Bag" and the "7-Select Flower Ice Cup." The Ice Cooler Bag is a product created in collaboration with illustrator Kim Jam. It features charming ice-themed illustrations and is made with eco-friendly oil and high-density polyethylene Tyvek fabric, reflecting consideration for the environment.
The 7-Select Flower Ice Cup contains large flower-shaped carved ice, which can be enjoyed with a variety of alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. It will be available in a limited quantity of 100,000 units, priced at 1,800 won. Throughout May, customers who purchase any of the three types of "Jameson Whiskey" or "Purple Lemonade Zero" will receive the cup for free. Targeting the summer season, 7-Eleven will also hold a big sale event featuring customized products, offering discounts on popular convenience store items such as imported beer, 7-Cafe Iced Large, and fried chicken.
The company has also planned a 1+1 giveaway event for selected bestsellers throughout May. The promotion covers 19 types of beverages, including "7-Select Cup Coffee," "Hot Six," and "Chilsung Cider," as well as 9 types of desserts and snacks such as "Fuwatoro Rich Raw Chocolate" and "39 Low Sugar Choco Cream Roll." In total, 42 popular items, including various fresh foods and fashion accessories, will be offered with 1+1 benefits until the end of next month. In addition, until the 15th of next month, 26 representative convenience store foods, including "Pringles," "Cantata," "Natuur Pint," and "Samyang Ramen Big Cup," will also be available as 1+1.
Customers can also participate in the "7-Eleven App Daily Full of Benefits" event through the 7-Eleven app. Every day throughout May, users can receive discount coupons worth a total of 10,000 won, which can be used for the main menu items "Same-Day Pickup" and "Pre-Order." In addition, there will be a flat-rate discount event offering "Good Courier" service for 1,400 won and standard courier service for 2,700 won.
Kim Minjeong, head of marketing at 7-Eleven, said, "7-Eleven, which announced the start of the convenience store industry in Korea and has led the trends, has prepared a variety of products and promotions for everyone to enjoy in celebration of its 37th anniversary," adding, "We will continue to pursue innovative and challenging activities befitting our position as the first convenience store in Korea."
