Jinju City Holds Pre-Invitational Special Lecture for Korea Garden Industry Expo

Jinju City, South Gyeongsang Province, announced on April 30 that it held a "2025 Korea Garden Industry Expo Pre-Invitational Special Lecture" at the Language Education Center of Gyeongsang National University’s Gajwa Campus, inviting Professor Hongjun Yoo, a distinguished professor at Myongji University, to speak on the theme "Stories of Korea's Hidden Gardens."

This special lecture was organized as part of a pre-conference program to ensure the successful hosting of the "2025 Korea Garden Industry Expo," which will take place in Jinju this June. The event was especially meaningful as it provided an opportunity to share insights on gardens, urban culture, leisure in life, and aesthetics with local residents. Due to high interest, pre-registration closed early, and the lecture hall was filled to capacity with citizens.

Professor Hongjun Yoo, well known for his "My Cultural Heritage Exploration" series, captivated an audience of over 300 people during his lecture by illustrating the value of gardens that blend history, art, and culture, using engaging examples and in-depth commentary.

An official from Jinju City stated, "Professor Yoo’s insights on gardens, culture, and urban spaces resonated deeply with the citizens," adding, "We plan to continue offering a variety of programs that engage the community."

Meanwhile, Jinju City was selected as the final host of the "2025 Korea Garden Industry Expo," organized by the Korea Forest Service. The expo will be held over ten days from June 13 to June 22 at Chojon Park, under the theme "Life with Gardens: Practical Gardens in Everyday Life."
