Dongjak District Launches Youth Monthly Rent Support Program... First District-Level Support for Newlywed Couples Park Ilha, mayor of Dongjak District, attending the move-in ceremony for Yangnyeong Youth Housing, a representative youth housing support policy of the district, in April last year. Provided by Dongjak District.

This program targets single-person households and newlywed couples aged 19 to 39 (born between 2006 and 1985) who do not own a home and reside in the district. The program will provide actual rent subsidies. In particular, the support for newlywed couples is the first of its kind to be implemented at the district level.

The district will provide a monthly rent subsidy (excluding maintenance fees) of up to 200,000 won per month for single-person households and up to 300,000 won per month for newlywed couples, for a maximum of 12 months, with payments made quarterly. Applications can be submitted online from 9:00 a.m. on April 28 until 6:00 p.m. on May 23 through the Dongjak District integrated reservation website.

Applicants must have their resident registration in Dongjak District and be living in a rented home on a monthly lease as of the application date. Newlywed couples must have completed their marriage registration, and only one person per couple (the lessee) may apply. The program will select a total of 250 participants: 200 single-person households and 50 newlywed couples. If the number of applicants exceeds the available spots, the final recipients will be selected through a random computerized draw and announced on the district website on May 30.

Selected recipients will be individually informed of detailed support information and follow-up procedures. In addition, the district will provide a "housing essentials kit" containing cleaning supplies and other items, and offer educational programs to support self-reliance, including finance, real estate, and asset management. Ten "program promotion supporters" will also be separately appointed from among the Dongjak District Youth Mayor Committee members to promote the program on social networking services (SNS).

Mayor Park Ilha stated, "We have prepared this program so that young people suffering from housing difficulties due to jeonse fraud and high rent costs can pursue their dreams without worry," and added, "We will continue to do our best to make Dongjak District a place where young people want to stay."
