Water Quality Improvement Activities at Tancheon in Seongnam
Invasive Species Removal Planned in Jeongeup in May
On April 25, SKC announced the launch of its new social contribution program, "My Green Nature," which is linked to biodiversity conservation activities. Implemented for the first time this year, "My Green Nature" is a program in which employees participate in ecosystem restoration activities in the regions where SKC's business sites are located.
"My Green Nature" was designed to raise awareness of the value of biodiversity and the importance of restoring healthy ecosystems. Biodiversity refers to the harmonious and sustained coexistence of various species and ecosystems, providing the foundation for all living things, including humans, to coexist in a sustainable manner.
The first biodiversity conservation activity under "My Green Nature," held on this day, was led by ISC, SKC's semiconductor test solution investment company. The event, which took place at Tancheon in Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, where ISC's headquarters are located, was joined by ISC employees and the Korea Federation for Environmental Movements.
Participants created 1,500 EM (Effective Micro-organisms) mud balls, which help improve water quality, and threw them into the stream at Geumtocheon Bridge on Tancheon. These purifying agents, made by kneading beneficial microorganisms and loess, gradually decompose in rivers or streams and remove pollutants. After the water purification activity, participants also conducted plogging to clean up the streamside environment.
SKC plans to continue biodiversity conservation activities in local communities where its investment companies are located, starting in Seongnam and expanding to Jeongeup in North Jeolla Province, Ulsan, and other regions. Next month, SKC will carry out activities to remove invasive species in Jeongeup, where the SK Nexilis business site is located.
Previously, in 2022, SKC launched the gamified plastic separation and recycling platform "My Green Place" and has actively promoted the spread of eco-friendly culture. Using "My Green Place," which provides guidance on how to separate and dispose of plastic, SKC also operates "My Green School," a resource circulation education program for elementary school students.
An SKC representative stated, "We expect that 'My Green Nature,' which involves employee participation, will help raise environmental awareness," adding, "Going forward, we will continue to contribute to building a sustainable society in line with SK Group's commitment to prioritizing economic value creation as well as social and environmental responsibility as the core of sustainable management."
