"Fentanyl Still Coming From China...
This Must Stop Immediately"
U.S. President Donald Trump stated on April 24 (local time) that China, which is engaged in a tariff war with the United States, should be declared in default for refusing to accept aircraft deliveries from American manufacturer Boeing.
President Trump made this statement in a post on his self-created social networking service, Truth Social, saying, "China promised to purchase from Boeing but has not taken delivery of the beautifully completed aircraft." He added, "This is just a very small example of what China has been doing to the United States for years."
Previously, Chinese airlines refused to accept Boeing aircraft, citing the 145% tariffs imposed by the United States on Chinese imports. President Trump directly criticized this action.
These remarks came just one day after President Trump made conciliatory comments toward China, saying he would "decide on reducing tariffs on China within two to three weeks."
He also raised concerns about China's lack of effort in cracking down on the distribution of fentanyl, a narcotic painkiller. Previously, President Trump imposed a 125% reciprocal tariff on China as well as a 20% tariff on fentanyl.
President Trump stated, "Fentanyl is still originating in China and flooding into our country through Mexico and Canada. It is killing hundreds of thousands of our citizens. This must stop immediately."
