GIST Professor Ho Beom Kim Receives 'Young Scientist Award' from the Polymer Society of Korea Professor Ho Beom Kim, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology.

The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) announced on April 22 that Professor Ho Beom Kim from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering has received the Young Scientist Award at the 2025 Spring Conference of the Polymer Society of Korea.


The Young Scientist Award from the Polymer Society of Korea is presented to outstanding early-career scientists who have distinguished themselves in the field of polymer science and engineering. The award aims to encourage these scientists and to promote academic advancement and the strengthening of future research capabilities in the field.


Professor Ho Beom Kim was highly recognized for consistently producing excellent research results in the advanced field of next-generation optoelectronic semiconductor materials and devices.


In particular, Professor Kim has focused on developing key electronic devices such as light-emitting devices, solar cells, and neuromorphic devices using perovskite materials. His research achievements are expected to serve as essential foundational technologies for realizing high-performance, high-stability, and low-power devices in the future.


Meanwhile, the Polymer Society of Korea, established in 1976, is the largest professional society for polymers in Korea and has led the academic advancement of polymer science and engineering as well as the dissemination of industrial technologies.
