Shinan County in Jeollanam-do achieved an overall 7th place ranking at the 64th Jeollanamdo Sports Festival, which was held in Jangseong County over four days from April 18 to 21.
According to the county on April 22, a delegation of 304 people, including 204 athletes, participated in 23 events. The team achieved excellent results in several sports, including badminton (2nd place), billiards (2nd place), basketball (3rd place), baduk (3rd place), and shooting (3rd place), resulting in the notable accomplishment of finishing 7th overall.

The county has consistently delivered outstanding performances, ranking 6th in both 2024 and 2023. These achievements are especially noteworthy given the challenges posed by a small population and the county's island geography.
The county supports local sports organizations and recreational sports clubs by providing sports equipment and training venues. It also offers sports classes to foster young athletic talent, striving for balanced development between professional and recreational sports. In addition, the county is actively developing sports infrastructure, such as building the Bigeum, Amtae, and Jido National Sports Centers, as well as the Jaeun Park Golf Course.
Kim Daein, acting county governor, said, "I would like to thank the athletes and staff who did their best and achieved excellent results despite difficult circumstances. We will continue to work hard for the development of sports in the county."
